Mazda CX-5 Trim Levels
You’ve seen what the Mazda CX-5 can do;
however, do you know about its many trim levels? At LaFontaine Mazda Livonia, we’ve put together this trim overview
so that our customers in and around Livonia and Dearborn, MI, can have all the information they need to make the
right decision when it comes to choosing a trim.
The Base Trim: M2.5 S
Starting with the 2.5 S base trim, we’ll see a lot of basic features that run throughout the rest of the trims. It starts with the engine, an Skyactiv®-G 2.5 engine with 186 lb-ft of torque and 187 horsepower. When properly equipped, this powertrain provides a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. All trims offer the i-Activ AWD® drivetrain. This makes towing small trailers or other equipment a breeze and allows you to choose different opportunities of adventure. The fuel economy is an EPA-estimated 24 city/30 highway MPG.1 With a 15.3-gallon fuel tank, these numbers tell the story that your Mazda CX-5 will be able to take you anywhere your heart desires and for the long haul. Since the fuel tank is so big, you’ll have to top it off fewer times than you would in another vehicle. The 2.5 S trim has a luxurious interior, starting off with a 6-way manual adjustable driver’s seat and 4-way manual adjustable front passenger’s seat. There’s also the 40/20/40 split one-touch fold-down and reclining rear seatback. For added pleasure, the gear selector and the steering wheel are wrapped in leather, while the seats are cloth-trimmed. Audio and Infotainment are next, with the 2.5 S having a 10.25-inch full-color display and 4-speaker audio system with automatic level control. Bluetooth® hands-free phone and audio capability allows for Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration. Steering-wheel-mounted audio, phone, and cruise controls complement the dual front USB audio inputs. The Mazda Connect™ Infotainment System is another feature that runs through all trim levels. It contains the Multifunction Commander control, infotainment system voice command, Radio Broadcast Data System program info, HD Radio™, Pandora® internet radio integration, SMS text message audio delivery and replay, E911 automatic emergency notification, and a 3-year trial of Mazda Connected Services.Mid-Range Trims: 2.5 S Select, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Carbon Edition, and 2.5 S Premium
These trims continue to build on what the base trim has set out before them. For example, the 2. S Select has a 6-way power driver’s seat, with manual lumbar support and a 6-way manual front passenger’s seat with seat height adjuster. This is in contrast to the other trims, which come with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, with power lumbar support and 2-position memory. The 2.5 S Select adds leatherette seats with Lux Suede® inserts and heated front seats with 3 level adjustment. The 2.5 S Preferred changes the seat trim to leather. The 2.5 S Carbon Edition, however, takes things to a sportier level, with a leather-wrapped gear selector and steering wheel with red stitching and black interior and door panel trim. The 2.5 S Premium reflects the trimming of the Preferred trim. The audio and infotainment selections only change slightly for these trims to a 6-speaker audio system, with automatic level control, and the addition of dual rear USB charging ports.High-end Trims: 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 S Premium Plus, 2.5 Turbo, and 2.5 Turbo Signature
We can immediately split these four into two groups of engines. The 2.5 S Premium and Premium Plus both utilize the Skyactiv®-G 2.5 engine, while the latter 2.5 Turbo and Turbo Signature utilize much different and powerful Skyactiv®-G 2.5 with Dynamic Pressure Turbo engines. These turbo engines generate power outputs of 320 lb-ft of torque and 227 horsepower. However, if you use 93 octane premium unleaded fuel in the turbo engines, you can achieve 256 horsepower. The turbo engines also offer a difference in fuel economy. They have an EPA-estimated MPG of 22 city/27 highway.2 While not a drastic reduction in MPG from the earlier engine, it does signify a tradeoff of fuel economy for more power. The 2.5 S Premium Plus has the same leather-wrapped gear selector and steering wheel as the Premium trim. However, it offers heated rear seats with 3 level adjustment, ventilated front seats with 3 level adjustment, and a heated steering wheel. The 2.5 Turbo enhances the leather-wrapped equipment with red stitching and black leather-trimmed seats with red stitching. The 2.5 Turbo Signature comes with Caturra Brown Nappa leather-trimmed seats, genuine layered wood trim, and a black cloth headliner. 2.5 Premium Plus adds to the audio and infotainment systems, with a SiriusXM® Satellite Radio 3-month trial subscription. 2.5 Turbo adds a wireless phone charger, while the Turbo Signature adds a SiriusXM® 3-year Traffic and Travel Link subscription.Schedule Your Test Drive Today!
